Installation and activation tutorial – Renault CAN CLIP V212
This guide details the correct procedure for installing and activating CAN CLIP V212 , in order to avoid any installation or activation errors.
✅ PREREQUISITES

Operating system: Windows 7 – 32-bit only
-
Administrator rights required
-
Antivirus temporarily disabled
-
Use WinRAR for all extractions.
-
Do not launch CAN CLIP before the activation is complete.
📥 STEP 1 – Downloading and preparing the files

Download the CAN CLIP software archive corresponding to your version:

Can Clip V212.zip
-

Extract this archive using WinRAR to a standard folder on your computer.
(examples: in your documents or on the desktop). -
Then download the archive:
-
Activation et Patch CAN CLIP (-V212).zip
This archive contains all the files necessary for activation and patches .

Also extract this archive with WinRAR , preserving the folder structure.
ℹ️ Important:
-
Do not launch any files until all archives are fully decompressed .
-
Do not use the default Windows extractor.
-
Keep the two unzipped folders accessible for the rest of the tutorial.
🔧 STEP 2 – Software Installation

Open the extracted folder from CAN CLIP.
-
Before any installation, run the file:
-
01. Renault CLIP.reg
-
-
Then launch the CAN CLIP installation normally from the setup.
-
Accept the driver installation when prompted.
-
Restart the computer if necessary.
🔐 STEP 3 – Software Activation
⚠️ This method only applies to installations of versions V200 and above .

Go to:
-
C:\CLIP_X91\Lib\Application\
-
-
Save the original RSRWin.exe file (e.g., to the desktop).
-
Copy the provided RSRWin.exe file into folder 02
and paste it intoC:\CLIP_X91\Lib\Application\. -
Launch this modified RSRWin.
-
Click on "Register me now" , then "NO" .
-
Generate and enter the activation key.
-
Once activation is successful , you must restore the original RSRWin.exe file .

Launch CAN CLIP from the desktop shortcut.
🔌 STEP 4 – Probe Patch
❌ To identify the RTL2002 Probe
-
Replace the files:
-
probesConfiguration.xml -
probesConfiguration_logs.xml
in the folder:
-
C:\CLIP\Config\
by those provided in file 03 .
-
🚗 Access for vehicles manufactured before 2005
-
Copy the IsoDrv.dll file from folder 03 to:
-
C:\Program Files\Common Files\SAGEM SA\
-
🔹 Connecting the CAN CLIP probe
Before the opening of CAN CLIP
-
Connect the CAN CLIP probe's OBD2 cable to the vehicle's OBD port.
-
Turn the vehicle's ignition on ( ON position, engine not started)
👉 The CAN CLIP probe must be powered by 12V .
Without vehicle power, the probe will not be detected by CAN CLIP.

Next, connect the CAN CLIP probe to the PC via USB.
Checking proper operation

The two red LEDs on the probe should light up
-
When CAN CLIP is launched, the 2 green LEDs also light up
You can confirm that the probe has been correctly detected in the Windows Device Manager :

Two devices should appear:

Bosch Automotive – RTL2002 CAN Communication Interface (After re-enumeration)
-
Bosch Automotive – RTL2002 ISO Communication Interface (After re-enumeration)
-
👉 If these two lines are present, the probe is correctly recognized.

Software launch
You can now launch CAN CLIP normally.
✅ INSTALLATION COMPLETE
Renault CAN CLIP V212 is ready to be used.
In case of a problem

Verify that the system used is indeed Windows 7 – 32-bit
-
Check that the antivirus has not deleted any necessary files.

Check that CAN CLIP was not launched before activation.
