The PIC18F25K80 chip offers optimal performance for the ELM327 Hardware V1.5, which supports SAE J1850 PWM and SAE J1850 VPW protocols. Unlike version V2.1, it offers improved compatibility with American and European vehicles (from 2003 onwards), Japanese vehicles (from 2005 onwards), and Asian vehicles (from 2009 onwards).
